VIP Box or VIP Ticket at a Tennis Tournament: What's the Difference?

The most frequent question we receive at EnjoyVIP: "What is the difference between booking a private box and getting a VIP pass?" The answer is not simply about price — it is about experience, privacy, management and who each option is right for.

This guide explains it plainly: what each option includes, how they differ, and how to decide which is right for you, your company or your group.

What Is a VIP Box: Everything You Need to Know

A VIP box is a private, enclosed space within the tournament venue, accessed directly from inside the stadium or via an exclusive VIP corridor. The space belongs entirely to your group — no strangers, no queues, no interruptions.

At the Mutua Madrid Open, the boxes on the Centre Court (Manolo Santana) are the most sought-after: direct frontal view of the court, optimal height, accessed from the VIP corridor. Boxes on Court 3 (Arantxa Sánchez Vicario) also exist for smaller groups or more intimate events.

The box always includes DO&CO catering throughout the day, VIP Club access for all guests and a personalised service. The menu, extras and any special requirements are coordinated in advance with EnjoyVIP.

What Is a VIP Pass: the Option for Small Groups

A VIP pass (or hospitality pass) gives individual access to the tournament's VIP Club. The holder enjoys the same access to DO&CO catering, exclusive zones and networking as a private box attendee — but without the private space and without the closed-group experience.

It is the ideal option for:

The Key Differences, Point by Point

Privacy

The box is 100% private: only the people you invite are there. The VIP pass gives access to shared VIP Club areas alongside other hospitality attendees. If discretion or the privacy of conversations matters — for instance, in a commercial setting with a key strategic client — the box is the only appropriate option.

Personalisation

In a box you can personalise the menu, add corporate branding, design the welcome, arrange gifts and manage timings entirely as you see fit. With a VIP pass, the experience is the tournament's standard offering — very good, but without scope for personalisation.

Cost Per Person

A VIP box carries a fixed cost for the entire space (irrespective of how many guests attend, within capacity). The per-person cost falls as the box fills up. A VIP pass has a fixed per-person price. For groups of more than 6–8 people, the box is generally the better value per attendee.

Networking

Paradoxically, a VIP Club pass offers more opportunities for spontaneous networking: you are in a shared space with other executives and prominent figures. A private box provides total privacy but limits contact with the rest of the VIP Club attendees — though you are always free to step out into the Club whenever you like.
